TITAN CMS - Search Results Block


The Search Results Block pertains to the results a user gets by entering a search term in the search box on the website.  In base TitanCMS the system is set up to display search results on the same page regardless of where in the site the user has requested the search. Common uses are:  Organic site search, File Library search and Data search.  Results will display based on Metadata Search Index or dtSearch Index.

v6.8 Display example:


  1. Click the dropdown for Add New Block.
  2. Select the Search Results block, the Search Results editor will display.
  3. Configure your Search Results block:
    1. Set up the Search Info:
      1. Select the Search Index from the drop down list.
      2. Make selection for Smart Search.
        1. Include (default value)
        2. Use Only
        3. Never
      3. Make selection for Spell Check User Query.
        1. Always
        2. If No Smart Search (default value)
        3. Never
      4. Add Text to display for Spell Check User Query message.
      5. Make selection for Pagination with quantity.  *Smart Search Results do not page, so configure your pagination to include results beyond just the Smart Search in order to include other results and still be able to page.
      6. Set the Description Order from the list of categories.  *Synopsis is only used in dtSearch Index.
    2. Set up the Search Results Display:
      1. Enter a Title if you desire a title to display.
      2. Select the Style (system default)
      3. Images - check if Teaser Image should display.
      4. Links - make selection for links.
        1. Page Name is checked as default.  Uncheck if this should not be included in display
        2. Link Text - Check and add name for the Link if desired.
      5. Number of Views - check if count should display in the Search Results. * Audit needs to be turned on for each page that you'd like to keep a count for the times any user accesses page.
      6. Commenting & Ratings - check the following options you would like to display in the Search Results.
        1. Show Average Rating
        2. Include Total Rating
        3. Link to Read Comments
        4. Field to enter Text for Link
        5. Include Total Comments
        6. Link to Add Comment/Rating
        7. Field to enter Text for Link
      7. Date and Format - check and provide format if date should display in the Search Results. 
  4. Click OK to retain, or Cancel.
  5. Click Save or Publish from the Page Action Bar to retain changes.
  6. Verify the Titan Administration Default Search Page is configured.
  7. Run the dtSearch Disk Refresh job.
  8. Run the dtSearch Index job.

Prerequisite Steps

Log in to the workstation:

  1. Enter your TitanCMS URL in a browser address bar.  The Titan log in will display.
  2. Enter your User Name in the User Name field.
  3. Enter your Password in the Password field.
  4. Click Log In.  The TitanCMS application will open to the Web Content Management Module.

Find an existing item in the Nav Tree: 

  1. To expand the node in the tree, use the "+" 
  2. To minimize the node in the tree, use the "-"  
  3. To select the item to work with,  click on the item in the tree.  The item will become highlighted & the item and it's children will appear in the Browse Screen.

Access the Content Edit Tab

  1. Access the content editing pane by either clicking on the "edit" link from the browse screen listing, or by adding a checkmark in the box in front of your page in the browse screen and clicking on the Content Edit Tab.
