TITAN CMS - Use Data List Block instead of Product Block

*The Data List & Data Detail blocks may now be built instead of the Product block.  Use Data Schema & Data Site instead of the Product database.

Prior to Data, Products were used.


The Product block is used with the Product database to display a list of items.  The block may be configured in many ways.  Your list could use left or tag navigation, with categories & products or just a list of products in the display. *Note:  contact designer if the Tag navigation is desired, a special page layout will be required. 

  1. Click the drop down for Add New Block.
  2. Select the Product block, the Product editor will load.
  3. Configure your Product block:
  4. Select One or More Sources:
    1. Check one or more product database(s) and system auto includes categories below it.
  5. Add Folders or Tags to Navigation:  *The "Type of Items to Add" section allows for configuring the navigation the user will use on the display side.  Folders are the categories and Tags are the Tags/Attributes assigned to your product.  Select an Option(s):
    1. No Additional Items.  *Only products will display, no categories or folders will display.
      1. Display the What's New "active" items only.  *Product's properties "What's New" would need to be configured to support this display.
      2. Display only items released in the last __ days. (Use Product Availability Date)  *This availability date is found on the content section of the product.
      3. Display only ___ items.  *Limits the number of products that will display.
    2. Product Data Folders  *Both Product and or categories and products may be configured to display.
    3. Tags  *A dialog will display with Tags/Attributes and option to have them display in the Left Nav and as a Breadcrumb.  The other options are not in scope.  A Page that has the Product block built on must also have its properties "left" zone checked for the Tag to be able to be injected into the left navigation to work.  Titan Admin page layout must also be configured.
  6. Filter Your Results Using Tags:
    1. Select a Tag.  *The options will display.
      1. Do not use
      2. Server  *The attributes will display only.
      3. Display and Server  *Selected attributes will display next to checkbox, dropdown, link or checked checkbox.
    2. Select Subset  *The attributes will be limited to the subset.
    3. Select the display type:
      1. Static Checkbox  *Checkbox will display
      2. DropDown
      3. Links
      4. Dynamic Checkbox  *Checkbox and numbers applicable to tag will display.
    4. Check if Limit results with assigned attributes.
    5. *Apply User Tag setting is used with the Registration block.
  7. Filter Your Results by Keyword
    1. Permit Keyword filtering on the display.  *By checking this check box, you enable user to use the keyword input field.  An input value may be entered in the TitanCMS workstation to display in the field.  User would could remove it and enter another value on display side.
  8. Configure Your Filter Results
    1. Filter Area Title.  *Enter a title here.
    2. Filter Area Page Zone.  *Select zone for where the results will display on the page.
    3. Adv. Tag Options  *Specific to use of Tag Dynamic Checkbox or Links.
    4. Collapse Tag to only selected attribute.  *By checking this option, when the user selects a tag, the other tags will not display.
    5. Remove Attributes and Tags that no longer apply.  *By checking this option, the Tag or Attribute that is no longer assigned to product will not display.  
    6. User the See More link after ____ attributes.  *By entering a different number, you can control how many attributes display without selecting the See More link.
  9. Configure Your Results Display
    1. Style  *Select the style for your results.
  10. Product Listing Display
    1. Product Fields *Select the product fields that should display.
    2. Product Image
    3. Links
    4. Number of Views
    5. Commenting & Rating
    6. Paging & Sorting Options
    7. Select the default sort order for your results.  The options are:
      1. Newest Items (Availability Date)
      2. Alphabetical by Product Name
      3. Display Order Property
      4. Number of Views (based on auditing)
      5. Average Rating
      6. Price (Ascending)
      7. Price (Descending)
  11. Product Detail Display
    1. Product Fields
    2. Product Image
    3. Links
    4. Number of Views
    5. Commenting & Rating
  12. Click Ok to retain, or Cancel.
  13. Click Save or Publish from the Page Action Bar to retain changes.

Prerequisite Steps

Log in to the workstation:

  1. Enter your TitanCMS URL in a browser address bar.  The Titan log in will display.
  2. Enter your User Name in the User Name field.
  3. Enter your Password in the Password field.
  4. Click Log In.  The TitanCMS application will open to the Web Content Management Module.

Find an existing item in the Nav Tree: 

  1. To expand the node in the tree, use the "+" 
  2. To minimize the node in the tree, use the "-"  
  3. To select the item to work with,  click on the item in the tree.  The item will become highlighted & the item and it's children will appear in the Browse Screen.

Access the Content Edit Tab

  1. Access the content editing pane by either clicking on the "edit" link from the browse screen listing, or by adding a checkmark in the box in front of your page in the browse screen and clicking on the Content Edit Tab.
