TITAN CMS - Create ASCX

.ascx control to load when a the author/editor wants to create a new data item.  The control is responsible for gathering all of the information required for creation of a single data element.

 .ascx control to load when a the author/editor wants to create a new data item.  The control is responsible for gathering all of the information required for creation of a single data element.

Steps
  1. Select the Titan Administration module.
  2. Click + for Data Sites in left navigation tree.
  3. Click your Event database.  *The right pane details for the event database will display.
  4. Scroll to Create ASCX.
  5. Enter the Create ASCX.   *Default value is   ~/ContentMgmt/Event/CreateEvent.ascx 

The control is responsible for gathering all of the information required for creation of a single data element. It must implement the interface NorthwoodsSoftwareDevelopment.Cms.Display.ICreateDocument:

public bool ReadytoCreate() should return true if all of the data required for creation has been submitted by the user.

public string BuildCreateXml() should build the XML necessary for creation. It must contain the nodes EditName, CN, and DocumentTypeID. You may use the function WkstDocumentSupport.MakeValidCN to convert the author provided Edit Name to a valid CN. The XML should be

 <CreateInfo>
 <EditName>will be used as the Workstation Name</EditName> 
 <CN>Must begin with a letter and contain only letters and numbers</CN> 
 <DocumentTypeID>Your unqiue numerical ID for data items assigned by the CMS</DocumentTypeID>
 ...any data you want to send...
 </CreateInfo>

The control may contain any type of control, but is responsible for including buttons for submitting the dialog.

If no path or a relative path is provided, it is assumed that the control resides relative /ContentMgmt/DialogControls. You may also specify a full path to your application root (e.g., ~/MyDataType/MyCreateControl.ascx)

6.  Click Save from the Page Action Bar to retain changes.

7.  Click Refresh Site State.

Prerequisite Steps
 

Log in to the workstation:

  1. Enter your TitanCMS URL in a browser address bar.
  2. The Titan Login screen will appear.
  3. Enter your User Name in the User Name field.
  4. Enter your Password in the Password field.
  5. Click Log In.  The TitanCMS application should open to the Titan Web Content Management Module.
