Patrick Bieser founded Northwoods Software Development in 1997. In addition to serving as president, Patrick oversees web strategy, Titan CMS product design, and software architecture decisions on major projects. Patrick is expert in the areas of content management, information architecture, co-branded web sites, and B2B (business-to-business) web sites.

In 1992 Patrick founded and served as President of River Run Computers, which employed nearly 50 professionals and was one of Milwaukee’s most successful computer hardware, software and network integration companies. River Run served a diverse list of customers including governmental units, non-profit organizations, small businesses, and major corporations in Southeastern Wisconsin.

Rick Fessenbecker - Managing Director, Manufacturer Solutions
Rick Fessenbecker, is a founding member of Northwoods Software. In addition to serving as a Managing Director, Rick heads up Manufacturer Solutions and will be involved early in our discussions as we craft the perfect solution for you.

Rick has been involved in website strategy and new customer acquisition for 15 years and has been the primary contact for our small to midsize manufacturing clients. Prior to joining Northwoods, Rick had a successful career in non-profit leadership and has helped hundreds of small to large non-profits make the most of their online opportunities.

Fred Pike – Managing Director, Operations
Fred Pike has been with Northwoods Software Development, Inc. since 2004, and is the COO and Managing Director. Fred has an MBA in finance and BA in Psychology, both from the University of Notre Dame.

Fred was the founder of Micro Information Services, Inc. (MIS), a company focused on LAN and WAN technology, custom software development, and technical education. MIS was a four-time Inc. 500 winner. Fred sold MIS to IKON Office Solutions in 1997 and was District President in IKON’s Technology Services Division until 2001. Before joining Northwoods, he was the VP of Global Mobility Services at Runzheimer International.

Fred is especially interested in the metrics and usability aspects of websites and frequently consults with Northwoods clients on improving their website’s user experience.

In his spare time, Fred is a frequent guitarist in the pit for the Skylight Opera and other venues in Milwaukee. He is also an avid runner and downhill ski instructor.

How to Build the Anchors:

  1. Add or find the desired page to build the anchor link list on and click the Content Edit tab.
  2. Click Add New Block and select the Freeform block.

  1. Click in content section (cursor defaults upper left) place cursor for placement of anchor and select Titan Links from the WYSIWYG options.  *DO NOT HIGHLIGHT ANYTHING.

  1. Enter your Anchor Name and click Ok.  *Be careful on name.  No spaces can be used and once added unable to change.  You can build a new one and use _ for space.

Example of Anchor for Patrick Bieser.  (*To view anchor name, click anchor image and select Titan Links.  View Titan Links - name of anchor.)

 

  1. In the Freeform content section, add your desired content.  Example for Patrick, I added a table with 2 columns and 1 row.  An image was added in first column and text in the second column.

  1. Click OK to retain.
  2. Repeat step 2-6 and add all the desired content. 
  3. Save your work.

How to Build the List of Links:

  1. Click Add New Block and Select the Freeform block.
  2. Click Source and type in code.  Use the structure example below and substitute the names for your anchor names and titles *Be careful to match what you added through Titan Links as your Anchor name.  You can always go back to block and check how you entered the anchor name.  (*To view anchor name, click the anchor image and select Titan Links, view the name for the anchor.)

       Northwoods Leaders  (Name for Title) 

       #PatrickBieser    (Should match the anchor name and add the # in the code)

       Patrick Bieser      (Name used in display as the link)

  1. Click Source to retain code and view as content.

  1. Click OK to retain.
  2. Save your work.

How to Build the Anchor Back to Top:

  1. Add or edit the block where user should result on when they click link "Back to Top".
  2. Place cursor and click on Titan Links from the WYSIWYG options.

  1. Enter your Anchor Name, example Top and click OK.

  1. Edit the page and freeform block where the link "Back to Top" should be listed.
  2. Click Source and type in code using code example below.  *This is to build the link to jump to top.  I added at the bottom of code.

  1. Click Source to retain code and view content display.

  1. Click OK to retain.
  2. Save and publish your work.
  3. Verify your page and links on your website.

Blocks

Calendar & Events

Are used to display Events on the website. Events are added through the Event database. Your display could use the Calendar type image allowing user to navigate through weeks, months or use a list similar to the the What's New display.

What's New - Calendar

The calendar block is configured to display like a What's New block. Instead of a calendar displaying, a list is used.

The Calendar's Events may be used to capture Comments & Rating.

Filter & Alpha Sort

A Filter block may be configured to sort by Alpha order. The page name is used to determine the alpha order.

Filter & Avg Rating Sort

A Filter block may be configured to sort by Avg Rating. The rating is from the Comment & Rating results. If the Avg. Rating is disabled set the block's configurable options in the Titan Administration module.

Filter & Number of Views Sort

A Filter block may be configured to sort based on the View Count. If the view count is disabled set the block's configurable options in the Titan Administration.

Filter & Published Date "Newest First" Sort

A Filter block may be configured to sort based on the Published Active date with Newest First. On the Version History tab for an item, you can verify the published active date.

Filter & Published Date "Oldest First" Sort

A Filter block may be configured to sort based on the Published Active date with Oldest First. On the Version History tab for an item, you can verify the published active date.

Filter Using Tags with Suggest Text

A Filter block may be built with Tags that include Suggest Text instead of the drop down, checkbox, etc. Note - The block configuration for Suggest Hint Text also retains past entry and duplicates, this is a browser remembering what was typed.

Filter with Keyword Hint Text

A Filter may be configured with hint text in the Keyword Search Box. The search is against the item's property Keyword field. Just type in the field a keyword to limit your results.

Filter & Caching

Filter Block with caching will save on page display load time! If your blocks don't change often and security is not in place, use this option to cache results and save on page load time. *Public view only, doesn't cache if logged in!

Filter & Display Keyword "center"

A Filter block may be configured to allow a keyword search. The keyword search field may display in center zone with results displayed also in center zone. The keyword search can use AJAX (auto submit) or a Submit button for user to click.

Filter & Display Keyword "right"

A Filter block may be configured to allow a keyword search. The keyword search field may display in right zone with results displayed in center zone. The keyword search can use AJAX (auto submit) or a Submit button for user to click.

Filter & Exclude Items

A Filter block may be configured to exclude some pages through the set Exclude - Remove documents from results when the full section had been included. By excluding in this manner, new pages added in this section will continue to automatically be picked up in the filter.

Filter & Paging

A Filter block may be configured to allow paging when the results list becomes long.

Table of Contents Display

The TOC block allows you to display your content as a section of the tree to assist user in finding your content.

Segmented Search Display

Assist users in their search of your content by grouping results from different areas of your website.

Comments & Rating on Page

The Comments & Rating form is used to capture a user's opinion on desired topics. The form and rules are set up in the Titan Admin module. You can assign the form to one or more pages.

The exciting new TitanCMS Data Editor block allows a website logged in user to enter data records from a website.

Data List & Caching

Ranges in the Data List may use numerical filters.

Public Data Editor

In v6.3 the Data Editor was updated to allow for Public Access to submit data records. Edit still requires Login.
